The College of Nursing will kick off this year's Nurse Week with featured keynote speaker Rebecca Love, RN, MSN, FIEL, a world-renowned leader in nurse innovation and entrepreneurship. Love was the first Director of Nurse Innovation & Entrepreneurship in the country at Northeastern School of Nursing, the first of its kind initiative in the U.S. empowering nurses as innovators and entrepreneurs. While at Northeastern, she founded the Nurse Hackathon, a movement leading to transformational change in the nursing profession. In early 2019, Love, along with a group of leading nurses in the world, founded SONSIEL: The Society of Nurse Scientists, Innovators, Entrepreneurs & Leaders. She remains President Emeritus, and the nonprofit has been recognized by the United Nations as an Affiliate Member to the UN.

 

She founded HireNurses.com in 2013, served as the Chief Clinical Officer of IntelyCare, Inc. and in 2023 founded the Commission for Nurse Reimbursement dedicated to solving the U.S. nursing crisis by creating a new economic model to reimburse for nursing services. A regular contributor on the Forbes Business Council, she has been featured in BBC, Fortune, Becker's, AXIOS, STAT, Forbes, Chief Healthcare Executive Magazine and ABC News. and has co-authored two books: The Rebel Nurse Handbook and The Nurses Guide to Innovation. She was the first nurse featured on Ted.com and on the first nurse panel at SXSW. Love is passionate about empowering nurses and creating communities to help nurses innovate, create and collaborate to start businesses and inventions to transform health care.
